Question Help - new colostomy - stoma question

Hi
I am the caregiver for my 90 year old mother. She just had surgery for a colostomy 4 weeks ago to resolve painful rectal prolapse. The post-surgical stoma swelling is now pretty much gone and the stoma has gotten much smaller since surgery. My question is that now that the swelling is gone, I see what looks like 3 polyps on it and it is no longer symmetrical. Is this normal? The polyp-looking things are concerning me.
Has anyone seen polyp-type things on a brand new stoma?
Thank you from a
Concerned Daughter
