Are suppositories safe for everyday use? What about more than once a day?
I can't find any good information on this.
Glycerin suppositories are the safest and are non-addicting or becoming dependent upon them. It's usually suggested not to use more than once a day but follow the instructions on the container they come in.
I found they work the best when I don't let my constipation get out of hand. I don't allow myself to go beyond 48 hours without having moved my bowels. If I get to 48 hours without having moved my bowels then I use a glycerin suppository. It doesn't take as long to work and it doesn't hurt as much to go if it's only been 48 hours verses 3-10 days or more. I also found that if I do slow deep breathing exercises while sitting on the toilet works better than straining and forcing hard stool to come out without a lot pain. I hope this is helpful.
