Re: Scared about a recent closed head injury
As someone who has actually suffered three major concussions over my life time and the mother of a son who suffered a major brain inury wirth a severe concussion,i would very highly reccomend you obtaining an MRI on your brain and also seeing a neurologist as soon as possible, your symptoms,at this level, should not be lasting this long.most of the major immediate symptoms like you are having usually dissipate much sooner than yours are.
did they even do any sort of a CT or MRI scan at anytime on you?i know in the ER on any accident victim, they do not routinely just go ahead and do any type of an MRI just because there are too many unknowns with regards to you having any metal in your body from either the accident itself or from some sort of surgery or other injury,so they usually just do that initial CT as this wont react to metal of any kind.
I would also obtain ALL records from the ER visit and go thru them for any clues as to what they may have come across but didn't actually bother to tell you.this unfortunetly DOES happen, and way too often.but you DO need all of those records.just call the treating hospital you were seen at and ask for the medical records dept, they will tell you what you need to do.its a pretty simple thing, believe me,i have had to do this wayyy too many times in the past.
I think you also need to find a new primary, geez, considering your symptomshe hould be sending you for an MRI at the very least here and also refrring you to a neuro by now.you DO need follow up here and it does not appear your current doc even wants to help you.i wouldn't stay with any doc that refused to help me if i was in your situation.thats just plain lazyness on his part.you deserve better treatment by a doc who actually gives a damn about you as his patient.
at any rate, obtain those records espescially if there is a ct report there for you to look at.any new doc would be interested in seeing the infotoo, espescially the new neuro you are going to be seeing soon(hint hint).you should not be having to deal with this crap at all.you DO deserve to know what may possibly be going on inside your head.see that new doc and ask the current one to refer you for an MRI asap.
i hope this will all eventually go away on its ownbut you do need to know for sure if there is something else going on insode your head.please keep me posted on how things are going,K? good luck,**
