hi my daughter who is 14 has had a tonic clonic at school last thursday. she was standing when it happened and she stiffens up so much that she hits the ground with such forse, that this time she ended up with a concussion out of it. she ahs been lucky so far that she has only been standing twice when the siezures have happened all other times she has been sitting on the ground. both times though the same thing has happened where she has hit the ground really hard. does anyone else have the same problem or heard of it. it worrys me that one day she may do real harm to herself
Yes,I also have the problem of hitting the ground hard
and have had a few head injuries.Once I hit my head so
hard on my driveway. But,being that no one has ever
actually seen me fall,I am not sure if I may stiffen up so
bad as your daughter,or I just drop.I have always thought
they were drop attack seizures, but, now you have me wondering,
since no one has actually seen the initial fall.My family has always
been in another room or I am home by myself.I also have the
complex partial seizures(most of the time),does your daughter
have those also?
I have my seizures mainly around menstruation,so I just make sure
I stay seated as much as possible around that time.It took many
years for me to realize that they came just before my period,is
your daughter getting around that age?
Take care,Sherri

Same here with the complex partial seizures, but am wondering if they secondarily generalize, or if it's my autonomic disorder with passing out, since I"ve also hit the ground and ended up with concussions (one of the reasons work put me on medical leave 3 1/2 years ago, and started the whole disability stuff). Head injuries are not unheard of by any means with seizures.

hi all thankyou for your help with this one i have heard of drop fits but not sure wat they r and how they r different from other fits.if anyone knows anything more or more of a detail on drop fits it would be of great help. thanks again it is good to have a site where we can talk and help one another try to understand as much as we can about epilepsy
hi from what i have read drop fits are exactly that the person has no aura basicaly they just drop and fit no warning at all . everyone has a differant warning but it gives yiu time hopefully to get to asafer place but there isnt allways time . take care caza
As sad as it is to say,I usually do not have any warning when
I have the drop attacks.Sometimes I may have an aura before
a complex partial,maybe 4 out of 10 times I will.Luckily I know
around about the days I will have my seizures, since they are
usually before my period, not often, but, sometimes afterwards
instead.Good-luck
