Fall from horse earlier today, not sure whether to be worried?

Earlier today I was jumping my horse and took a tumble, fell onto my back and hit my head very hard. I was wearing a helmet and was not knocked out but vision did blur over and I couldn't get up for a few minutes, now I am at home and have a very nasty head ache + feeling a bit sick. Neck is also hurting a lot. Do you think I should be worried?

You really should go to the hospital to be checked out. Sounds like you have a concussion.

I fell asleep in the end last night, probably a bad idea with a head injury I know. I woke up today with it still hurting and have been feeling sicky on and off but it hasn't really been too bad so think I am ok, although I have been very sleepy :S ... I should probably go but really dislike hospitals unless absolutely necessary :/ xx

I understand your feeling about hospitals, but perhaps you could call your doctor. They can do a simple neuro exam to see if you have a concussion. When you have lingering symptoms you really should really be checked out. Always better safe than sorry! When my son suffered a concussion we were told that things don't always show up right away.

Im worrying a bit about it now but its 1 am and I don't want to wake up my parents. Your right though it is better to be safe than sorry. I just feel stupid waking everyone up at this time but I don't feel right either xx

Please go wake up your parents! Imagine how they will feel if something happens to you when it could have been avoided. I would want my kids to wake me up no matter what time. Please, don't wait! Let me know what happens.

YES. I have fallen numerous times jumping my horse and have had many head injuries as a result. Def. go get checked out and don't get back on your horse until your DR. clears you just incase you have a concussion

Re: Fall from horse earlier today, not sure weather to be worried?

Hi again everyone, thanks for your replies. I went to hospital earlier today and am here over night, can't type a long message as writing from my phone. Thank you all for convincing me to get checked out, they wanted me to stay over night just to be watched, think theyre just being safe, hopefully will be better soon :S xxx
