Unhappy Brain without oxygen

I have a friend who went into v-fib. She is still in a coma, but breathing on her on as of 7/30/2013. I want to know what her chances are of coming out of this with no serious affects. This is a female 19 YOA.I would love to know of other outcomes.

Re: Brain without oxygen

Sweetie, I'm here with about the same questions. My husband had a cardiac arrest on June 30th, he was in a coma for a week and he opened his eyes but wasn't really there. Since then he was moved to a rehab and they got him off the vent machine and he's breathing on his own. He lifts his arms at times and shows emotions at times (especially when he's angry). They capped off his treach and he tried to talk but it was just sounds, no words. I'm lost, I feel like I don't know where to go from here. I'm tired too,,,very tired. I'll pray for your friend...

Re: Brain without oxygen

I don't really have any words of advice for either of you but I will keep both in my prayers and thoughts. Best thing I can say is it would depend on how long the brain was deprived of oxygen and ask the dr's
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
