Can you help me?. About a month ago I fell ill, first it was a sore throat, and about the same time as looking at my throat i discoved little lumps on my mucus membranes and on the back of my tounge. These lumps have not changed shape at all, I do still have a sore throat everyday. Whilst ill with what i believed to be flu, i discovered tingling sensations on the top of my head, this has continued day and night for a month. Also I have twitches(jerks)mainly on my legs and arms - this day and night also, and i find that my vision is slightly impared too(going crosseyed) and seeing tiny dots sometimes. I have been to a GP twice and they dont know what it is, i saw a doctor and he said he thinks its a virus of some sort and allow it to take its course. These symptoms do not seem to change at at. First i thought about Hiv & Herpes, i had a Hiv test and it turned out negative, i was told herpes can affect the brain but only if a person has Aids, I have not tested for herpes. What should i do? Should i see a neurologist? Also a pain sometimes in my right thigh.. Doctors seem no help at all, Can somebody point me in the right direction.... going out of my mind here.. Please Help!

You need a better doctor. Those are pretty stupid diagnosis to give to someone with this kind of problem. I suggest you contact the nearest teaching hospital and set up an appointment with a doctor who specializes in virology (viruses)and get this taken care of immediately.

Now, understand that this is just a guess, but I think you have a form of Strep. There are different kinds of Strep and some are very bad. Be sure to take a change of clothes with you. Just in case.

I have had very very similar symptoms (tingling, twitching, muscle pain, subjective weakiness feeling in legs, vision problems, feeling drunk 24 hours a day) for the last 6 months after a virus that gave me a sore throat and mucus on my tonsils. My gland in my neck also swelled a lot and they were very painfull! I have had all the tests under the sun and all have come back negative- including MRI and HIV and other blood tests! Post-viral syndrome is a big possibility where a virus can mess your body up for months(get tested for glandular fever or what doctors call infectious mononucleosis - i am awaiting results for this myself) and if this is positive then the liklihood is post-viral syndrome which can really mess up your whole bodys balances!! Good luck!! James
