Head Tremors, dizzyness, balance

In July/06 my husband was bitten on two separate occasions by deer ticks, dug ticks out with knife. 2-3 weeks later symptoms appeared - Internal physical head tremors, rapid physical jolts (no physical movement on outside) nausea constant light headedness, major panic attacks (felt going insane), night sweats, unable to sleep, *****ling/itchy skin, poor concentration, aggression, memory loss, brain fog, noise reaction, painful aching muscles and joints especially hips and knees. (No rash)

Sep to Oct/2006 Saw Doc & Neurologist in Blackpool, had CT scan & blood tests all normal. After I researched on the internet asked Neurologist – is it possible Lyme disease? Had Lyme ELA & Western Blot Blood Test in Lab in Inverness, Scotland – negative. Specialist said could not be Lyme as blood test negative.

Moved home, now living in Scotland near Gretna Green. Still ill as above!
After further research on internet - 7/11/2006 saw Lyme Literate Doctor in Cardiff (Only 2-3 in UK). Who from clinical diagnosis thought Lyme encephalopathy. Advised 300mg Doxycycline daily for 3 months. After gradual improvement at beg Dec 2006 symptoms back for approx 1 week (Herx?). Same again beg Jan 2007 for 3 days (Herx)

1st week Jan 2007, tremor and brain fog back, random - 4 or 5 times some days. Symptoms increase, phoned Lyme MD, advised to stop Doxy, in case doxy is poss cause and to get MRI scan to eliminate any other possible causes.

Current symptoms - tremors (see 1st para), happen all the time, last several hours & affect vision, balance (dizzy, falling sensation) & sleep; also brain fog, noise reaction, concentration & memory loss, aggression & joint pain. Unable to work, nervous of driving (local Doc in Gretna actually thinks I am ok to drive! I’m sure he thinks its all in my mind.)

Local Doc consulted another Neurologist in Dumfries - doesn’t think its Lyme – not ill enough, no incidence in area, negative bloods, not sure what it is, buy thinks may be psychological – poss stress? 3 months wait for MRI scan on UK NHS.

Further options – pay to see Neurologist who “might” authorise an MRI? What then?
Go back to Lyme Doctor - very experienced - completed clerkship with Dr. Burrascano USA, (but is not Specialist/Consultant)? Doesn’t have the medical authority of Consultant.
Or see Professor who is a consultant Rheumatologist who specializes in Lyme, however he retired in Feb 2007 but still practices privately?

I am 55 years old man & worked for large aircraft company for 38 years, I hold an executive position; have had minimal time off work due to sickness until August 2006 when the problems began. I am a sane, capable, & reasonably physically fit person(cycled 80 miles a week for last 15 years- until now), certain that the symptoms I have especially the Head Tremors & Dizziness, Brain Fog and Joint Aches are not a figment of my imagination and can not be a psychiatric disorder

I have little confidence in my local Doc in Gretna, who is patronising, has no idea what’s wrong, except he’s sure it’s not Lyme, & thinks the Lyme MD’s are “just after the money”. If he’s right what can it be?

My symptoms especially the dizzy spells (feel I am going to fall) are increasing daily. I am extremely distressed, this started in Aug 2006 & the only treatment I have had is 3 months Doxycycline, which appeared to work until some symptoms returned mid Jan 2007 & the tremors & dizzy - lack of balance sensation have increased enormously over the last few weeks & days.

Sorry for the long post, any advice would be really welcome. Thank you
