I've been diagnosed with meiges syndrome and esstential tremors. I had chiari malformation surgery at Emory in 2000. I now have tremors in my throat that it has affected my voice. I have blashphasm in eyes. My shaking in hands horrible. Do you think I qualify for disability?
I was also diagnosed with Meige's syndrome and then blepharospasms I had the botox injections and they didn't work....my eyes got worse as the blepharospasms had taken control of my eyes, I saw my neuro yesterday and now she says I don't have blepharo and I have "Eyelid Apraxia" this is possibly surgery...I just want you to know that you aren't alone, I have not been able to talk to anyone with the same problem as me and Im very frustrated....my prayers are with you and I wish you sooooo much healing.
Hi Shellbear, thxs for the reply. Yes, i was also diagnosed with blepharospasms and refused the botox. My part after insurance was $400 every 3 months. The Meiges was diagnosed 1-2007 and has steadly worsen. I've researched and tried to understand the Meiges but truly believe mine has to do with the brain surgery. Hang in there and let me hear from you. Linda
I would recommend seeing a movement disorders neurologist. They can better confirm whether you have Meige syndrome. It seems unlikely that that particular disorder would develop after Chiari surgery.
Obviously you can go to Emory as they have movement disorders people there. Geographically closer to your location is University of Florida at Gainsville. Michael Okun, MD, is an excellent movement disorders physician there.
Thank u so much for the doctor's name. I know I'm grasping at straws, I'm just sick of the shaking and head bobbing. It's makes me want to be a home body. I plan to attempt to get an appt with this dr. I'm seeing a movement disorder dr who diagnosed the Meiges and blepharospasms, but he seems disinterested. Thxs again. Linda
