Question Tingling face, tongue,with neck/shoulder pains....HELP please

I am a 23 year old female. For the last few days my tongue has been a numb/tingling feeling. I though I might have bite it. Now today my cheeks have been been tingling and yesterday my teeth/jaws were hurting. Well for the last 10 months I have been having left shoulder, neck and back pains which I am going to a physical therapist for. So.....does anyone know what could be the problem....so i worry?????

Re: Tingling face, tongue,with neck/shoulder pains....HELP please

this could actually be from many different possibilities, really. the thing you really need to do is start testing and ruling out possible probl/trigger areas one by one. since you also have problems within the neck area/upper back is giving you some major problems, the really best place to start this testing would be with an MRI of your c and upper T spine areas. becasue of the way certain cranial nerves actually run from the head, and on down into our c spines then loop back into the head again,it IS totally possible to have facial/head issues that are actually be casued by a problem within that c spine. believe me,i do suffer with this too at the trigeminal nerve, which just happens to be one of those cranials that come down from the head then loop back up again too. from what you have described it really sounds like YOUR trigeminal may be some how involved here too. if you simply look up that particular nerve and see a pic of just where it is located in the face, and how it runs,i think you may see some things that are connected too. but that MRI with a contastig agent really would be a very great place to start with, just considering the symptoms you have been having alone.

just make an appt with your primary for that evaluation of your symptoms and that referral for that contrasted MRI. the contrast just really helps in showing some rather obscure areas or findings that don't always show up really well on a plain MRI. you just need that too. depending upon what does or does not actually show up on that c and t spine MRI,really would dictate your next steps here as what to try ad look at next. i do think that it would be the brain, which they could also realistically look at while they do the c spine MRI too,all in one shot. good luck and please keep me posted as to what you find out. Marcia
