Chiari Malformation show up on an MRI?

Just a question, 2 years ago I had an MRI where it states and shows that I am missing the part of the brain called the septum pellucidum. Well I had a health psychologist mention to me that I could have chiari malformation, and I do exibit signs of something similar if it isn't. My main question is, would chiari's show up on the MRI? I think I even remembermy Doctor commenting that the pituitary and back of the spinal chord were normal... But if it isn't chiari's then what is it?! I have symptoms of possible thyroidsm, if it wasn't for the anomolly on my brain I think I would still be think I am hyperthyroid!! Anyways, a small question, isn't chiari's detected on a cat and MRI, I have had both not too long ago, both were normal.. Thanks for your help.

Re: Chiari Malformation show up on an MRI?

hi jen!

What symptoms do you have right now?I am curious to know...also sometimes radiologists don't point out the Chiari, but nowadays they seem to be more aware of it.Yeah I have posted quite a lot on these boards...I'm not an expert, but I'm always happy to help anyone if I can.If you think your thyroid is acting up just have the dr. check it and keep a watch on it.

Warmest Regards,
Scout

Re: Chiari Malformation show up on an MRI?

My main complaints are honestly feeling sick tomy stomache and choking when I eat along with this crazy sleep apnea thing where I fall a sleep and wake up gasping for air. I just wish I had medical insurance so I can get these tests done.
