Question My wifes speech slowness is worrying me

For about a year my wife has had slow speech where it is a problem to get words out. She feels like she has an interference in her throat. She has had a lot of stress, me with parkinsons and mother who is 90 and outspoken and keeps on about her condition.
My wife(P) has been checked by a neurologist who was happy she hadn't had a stroke and exhibits no other symptoms. Also under an ENT who checked her vocal cords and has blood tests ,all okay.
P has also been to counselling, acupuncture and speech therapy.
What P does is she bottles things up and when questioned about her life starts crying which makes her choke with like a hiccupy output.
I want really for P to have a scan to make sure but you people on here have been through a lot and I value your advice and comments. Good luck.
p.s Does not suffer from reflux.

Re: My wifes speech slowness is worrying me

It sounds like P needs to get an EEG to check out her electrical activity to see why her speech is so slow. It sounds like seizures. I had them all my life and they just found out (by an EEG). Now I am taking medication that is helping. If it is seizures, the abnormal activity will slowly erode the good cells in her brain. Im not a doctor, but this is what I understand about my seizures, from my doctor. Good luck and I hope P gets better.

Re: My wifes speech slowness is worrying me

Your welcome. But I'm kind of surprised that she has only seen a GP about this. She shoulg see a specialist; a "NEUROLOGIST" specializing in brain and central nervouse system issues. Anyway, good luck to her and you.
