Re: my son 8 years old get seizures

ruben: this sounds like nocturnal seizures - seizures that happen during sleep or at night. I'm on Keppra and it doesn't control the seizures. Keep a log on a calendar of when they happen and see if they happen around the New Moon and the Full Moon.

Is he exposed to any chemicals? Even perfume! Some people with seizures have chemicals sensitivities. Have him checked for allergies. Some foods with MSG in them can trigger seizures. Fluorescent lights, gas fumes, cigarettes, loud noises, stress, lack of sleep, video games and nintendos, and even hormones can cause problems.

See if you can pinpoint any triggers for him and eliminate them and see if you see a difference. Sometimes the seizures can't be controlled. Work with your doctor and see if he has done an MRI to rule out anything like tumors in the brain.

Has he had any head injuries?

Re: my son 8 years old get seizures

Falling asleep and waking up can be prime times for seizures to happen. If your child has a seizure disorder, they can be brought on by other things as well such illness, tiredness and heat. There are quite a few anti seizure medications out there, sometimes children need a combination of meds. You might want to see if there is an Epileptologist in your area. They are neurologists that specialize in epilepsy.
