dizziness, unsteadiness when walking

I've been having weird feelings lately. It's like dizziness, but it actually isn't that kind of dizziness when you get off the merry-go-round. It's like my picture is running slow or something like that. and i don't know how to actually describe it. And when i walk i feel like i am drunk, my legs won't listen to me. I want to go with a steady pase and straight forward, they act like they have a mind of their own occasionally. really unstable feeling. even when i am lying down. like when i wake up, even then i feel that weird dizziness-like feeling.
Been to the emergency department in the hospital. after 2 hours, finally saw a doctor. Well blood pressure - normal. heart rate - normal. blood sugar - normal. all normal. (i do wonder what do they expect after i have sat there and rested for few hours...) anyway they gave me a tablet that was suppose to help with inner ear infection or something. i think it was called prochlorperazine or something like that. anyway doc said to take that 3 times a day. i did that. after i finished the pack, everything came back. so now what? will see my GP on 17th, but thought i'd ask some advice before i get there. what to ask from the doctor, 'cause it seems to me they just want to get rid of me. (usual response: all normal, eat healthy, do exercise, here take that pill, you'll be fine... :S). Can anyone help me? I am already thinking about all kind of bad things it can be... (brain cancers, tumors etc - i think too much).
Forgot something. i am awfully tired during the day also. and i take naps. and i occasionally feel like my mind goes blank.i just find myself staring at one point and i lose focus. anyway i don't even dare to go out alone anymore, just because what if i actually lose my balance due to the dizziness? i am so worried...

Re: dizziness, unsteadiness when walking

I've had similar and went to my doctor. Up on some scaffolding I was having real problems with the height, and sometimes felt dizzy just standing up or off balance even when seated. I also had a feeling of a sort of pressure behind my ears. Step one was to try some tablets to improve blood flow to the inner ear for a few weeks, and then see what happened when I came off them. If symtoms returned it'd be a trip to an ENT specialist to find out what's going on.

After a few days I felt the improvement and then wasn't bothered up on the scaffold at all. I felt much lighter in myself too, less tired and sleepy all the time. Since then I've also upped my exercise regime as I had a theory that it was a use it or lost it thing of my inner ears not getting enough balance stimulation. That may not be right, and since I stopped taking the tablets my symptoms have returned to an extent, but not as bad as they were. Currently I'm undecided whether to go back to the doctor or not, as it's not the problem it was before. I think I will though as I can feel it slowly returning.

Re: dizziness, unsteadiness when walking

well now that i have had more time to think about it, it isn't actually dizziness most of the time. most of the time, its like waves in my ears. like waves rushing to the shore, swuashing in the ears. gets worse when i close my eyes, and at the same time a bit dizzy feeling. what's that about then? i hope GP will help and won't just send me off with a prescription
