Headache in the occipital lobe
For about the past month, I have been waking up 3-4 times a week with a thobbing headache in my occipital lobe; which I have never had before. The pain is so intense, I can barely lift my head off my pillow. In conjunction with the headache I would have congestion and an intermediate earache. I thought it was my sinuses so I would take sinus headache medication but that did not stop the pain.
I went to my internal medicine doctor about two weeks ago and he told me I do not have sinus problems and thought it was my high blood pressure medication because my bp was elevated so he changed my medication and told me to try the samples for two weeks and if that did not stop the headaches, to let him know. It didn't so I called him and he ordered an MRI, which I had done Fri and I am awaiting the results. My dr also told me I did not have an ear infection. For the past few days my neck has become stiff and the headache as radiated to a cluster headache in my frontal lobe.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing these symptoms? HELP.
