| I'm new to all of this... HELP!?
FOCUL NODULE HYPERPLASIA.....I live in Co. Kerry, Ireland. I was dignosed through ultra sound then mri 2 yrs ago with fnh. I recently went for my yearly check at a new hospital (to me), the Mercy Hospital in Cork where they had a liver specialist when I was called I saw the specialists 'under dog' shall we say who said everything was going grand and he wanted to see me again in another year, they took some bloods and off I went... A week later I received an appointment card through the mail for 2 weeks time, I rang and they explained that they just wanted to discuss my long term goals ie did I want to have children etc, needless to say, I do, and lots of them! So on the 18th of April I met the actual specialist who told me that my lesion is 6.2 cm and on the outside of my liver and needs to be removed as I am at risk of internal bleeding at any time. I am now awaiting for my post op assessment date and then date of surgery. I am completely bewildered and confused, he explained that I would have a 6-8 inch scar and be in hospital for around 1 week. He asked did I have any questions but I was so dumbstruck i didn't know what to say or ask. What am I in for ladies? This sounds like major surgery, I'm frightened but would much rather know what to expect from the get go than go in completely blind and get another shock. At least this way I can get myhead around it before i'm admitted... please help?! x
