pilocytic astrocytoma

My son 11 yrs old has been affected by pilocytic astrocytoma. It is sort of tumour in the brain that affects the optic nerve and thereby the eyesight.
For more than a year he was treated for lazy eye, later it was diagonised through a MRI that he has the above mentioned problem and needs to be operated upon 50% of the tumour was removed in the operation and for the remaining he had to go through radiation for a month. The MRI reports will be taken after 3 months. My son is otherwise healthy except that his hair on the part where radiation was given has fallen off.....

have anybody come over such a problem? Kindly share your story........
