DH and I are not planning on getting pregnant so soon after DS, but I don't know what to take. I've been on Depo and hated it, condoms are uncomfortable (TMI?), and I was taking tricyclen, but the doc says it decreases milk supply. Now, she gave me a prescription for something, but I haven't gotten it yet. She says it doesn't affect the milk. It begins with an "M". I've already dropped it off at the pharmacy, but haven't gone to get it yet. Why am I putting it off? I know I don't want a baby so soon after this one, but honestly, I think I just hate the idea of BC pills. What is this IUD thing? How does it work?
DH is really pushing me to get on something, I think he's a bit freaked at the idea of me getting pregnant again. LOL!
Note: I am breastfeeding and haven't gotten my period yet(3mos PP). Suggestions would be appreciated.

I got an IUD at 6 weeks when I was nursing. I love it! It is shaped like a T and is inserted into the uterus. There are 2 kinds. Mine is the one without hormones. The doc inserts it for you and now I'm good to go for 10 years. It took about 2 minutes to put it in at the doc. Only slightly uncomfortable going in. Then you never feel it (unless it slips and you have to have it done again) When you're ready to be pregnant again the doc can take it out in a few seconds and you are immediately ready to begin trying again. My flow became heavier for the 1st few months. It is still a bit heavier, but AF only lasts for about 4 days now. I highly recomend it.

Kiera1595 - trying not to steal roxy's post but I have had questions about this too. And condoms are not working for us very well. How well does the IUD protect against pregnancy?, what are the odds? Exactly how do they put it in and all that? I avoid going to the Dr because I hate being touched. So I need to know if the 2 min is worth it. What is the hormone difference between the 2? I don't know much about it and I imagine the Dr would but I avoid him as much as I can.

My doc said that ALL birth control pills can affect milk supply. The low dose ones less so, but still can. I even asked him about the one I think you are talking about (I can't remember the name either, but know it starts with an M!). He strongly recommended that I don't take any pills while breast feeding. Of course that's just one opinion, and all docs will differ. He recommended an IUD, but I opted not to as we plan on trying to get pregnant again towards the end of the year and I don't mind condoms for now

An IUD can last for 10 years? WOW! I may consider doing that too. I'm wondering if my insurance will pay for it.... Thanks for bringing up this question Roxy. I go in for my 6 week pp checkup on the 2nd.
