Does anyone know how to heal this leg and foot injury??Accidently hit back of leg - Burns & Injuries Message Board

I posted this in another forum, but I think maybe it should've been posted in this forum instead.

Hey,

I know someone who had injured this area on the back of their leg that kinda goes like into their foot area. I don't really know how to describe this, but it's in that real sensitive part in the back of your leg that is close to your foot. Like, if you've ever gotten hit by the bottom of a shopping cart, you'd know what I mean LOL, that area will cause you instant pain. It kinda causes a reaction like when you hit your funny bone. Well what they said is that, they were sitting in a chair and they jumped up outta the chair real fast and ended up hitting the back of their leg on the bottom part of the chair. I hope u guys get what I mean lol. But their leg became so swollen all the way up to their knee almost. Alot of the swelling went down, but it's still swollen and they can't hardly walk on it, and they said it hurts real bad all the time. It has been like that for 4 months or more they said. Well isn't it kinda weird that it's lasting that long? They've tried soakin it in hot water, cold water, some oils and cremes on it, some aspirins, and it's still not really getting better. What can make this heal faster??

Your friend needs to see a doctor quickly. He could have a severe secondary infection that could be life-threatening. Please tell him to go, and be on the safe side

It could be damage to the tendons back there.It really needs further looking into.Possibly an MRI to check the tendons and ligments.There are alot of them in the back of the lower leg and into the foot.an ortho would probably be the best type of doc to see for this.Good luck to your friend.

Sorry to get back to ya'll so late. Well my friends leg/foot is still bad, even all these months after, he went to a couple doctors and one was a sports doctor. One of them said it is tendonitis, but isn't taht like a disease? I mean, I could understand his tendons being damaged, but tendonitis? Well they just gave him some pills, like ibuprofen and stuff. And none of them did x-rays. Are they supposed to ask u if u want x-rays?

An x ray would only show actual structural bone damage not the soft tissue,muscle,ligament tendon damage.He would need an MRI for that.By now I would think that at least the ortho would have had him get one at this point.He really needs to push this to his docs.His primary doc would be able to order one.This really has gone way beyond something insignificant.to be still having pain after this long really needs to be looked into much more in depth.Have him ask all docs regarding the need for an MRI, one of them should be able to OK this.FB
