Don't know which bone you broke, but the most likely would be your scaphoid, which has an avascular pole (one side of the bone gets poor blood supply, causing it to die following fracture and require grafting). A bone graft gets put in place of the lost bone. I do not know the exact time for healing, but fractures of the upper extremity with GOOD blood supply generally require 6-8 weeks for union of the bones. I would guess at least this long or longer for a poorly vascularized scaphoid.
