Interesting research on burn victims

I grew up hearing about a young child still alive that had 3rd degree buns on her body, the doctor used Inositol dust on the wounds, after the first day she didn't need any more pain medicine. After 6 months she didn't have any scars.

I have a 26 yr old son who was paralyzed 2 yr. ago he developed a pressure sore on his tail bone. I was using a duroderm patch that the doctors told me to use, after 2 weeks it wasn't getting any better, decide to try Inositol powder on the sore, after 2 days it had a scab, I panicked because scabs aren't good for pressure sores, put a duroderm patch back on after a day it came off, to my surprise the wound had completely healed with no scar.

After that I was determined to see that this research was seen by others that some how we could help. i hope this information is helpful to some one i will help in any way I can.

Wow! What is this Inositol powder? Where does one get it? Or is it only in a doctors office?

For a very minor burn I've used mustard and that works really good for the pain.

Re: Interesting research on burn victims

Cookie54 I did find some information on my own. Very interesting, thank you for your origanal post on this!

PURE INOSITOL POWDER
Inositol is a member of the B vitamin family. It is utilized in fat metabolism, helping the liver to eliminate excess fat, reducing cholesterol levels, helps prevent hardening of the arteries, and may protect nerve fibers from excess glucose damage. Diabetics are prone to over excrete this substance and supplemental intake has been found beneficial for the prevention of neuropathy. Inositol has a natural calming effect and may be used in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder without the side effects of prescription medications.

Inositol has been listed(1) as an essential element in the nutritional treatment of Alcoholism, Cirrhosis of the Liver, & Diabetes. Very Important for Glaucoma, Hair Loss, Hepatitis, Multiple Sclerosis, & Raynaud's Disease. Important in Depression, Gallbladder Disorders, Hemorrhoids, Pancreatitis, Vertigo, & Helpful for Circulatory Problems, High Blood Pressure (Hypertension), Insomnia, Obesity, & Premenstrual Syndrome.

I didn't find anything on burns, but now we know! Thanks again. I believe the duoderm is now sold in stores too.

My sister got burned really bad a few years back, wish I'd know this then!

Re: Interesting research on burn victims

Hello,
Can you get this inositol at a health food store? I have burned tissue on my gums from a scaler. Can you put it on your gum tissue?

Re: Interesting research on burn victims

brita, it is a supplement to be taken internally, I'd try it. It is spendy, but hey, it's sure better than paying for a doctors visit! I don't see where it would hurt to try. Just my opinion.
