daughter hurt her wrist - Burns & Injuries Message Board

My daughter is 13 years old and back in nov.she fell and hurt her wrist.took her to doctor and was told she had a spang and put her in a cast to let it heal.She was in the cast for 6 weeks then a brace for 1 month.Two months after getting brace off it started back hurting and swelling so i took her back to doctor which she saw 2 different 1s.1 being in training the other the head doctor.They both tells me something different.the 1 in training said it was a stretched ligament with extra fluid,the doctor comes back in with the 1 in training and said it was a tear in the ligament and she had a small cyst so they gave her an injection in the wrist and put her back in the cast for 3 more weeks.To me this just does sound right and im thinking of taking her next week to another doctor because this has been going on since nov.and i have talked to a few ppl that was there seeing him and 1 woman said hes beening seeing her for 2 years for same injury and another woman said she had surgery and she was there to find out if she had to have it again because they left a piece of a chipped bone in her arm.Has any1 ever heard of anything like this and should i take her to another doctor before the 3 weeks are up.Sorry so long just trying to see if any1 knows what i should do.Thanks Karen

It really sounds like you need to see an orthopedic doc.They specialize in bone problems.Has she ever even had an x ray done?I would think that they would have done at least a cat scan or even an MRI by now to check the soft tissues.this where the problem may lie.A good ortho will evaluate the the injured area and most likely order further,more in depth testing.By staying with your current docs, you will end up getting no where.See a specialist.FB

She is seeing an orthopedic doctor and she has had many xrays done and a MRI which is when they told me she had a tear in the ligament and a cyst but he has not said anything else about another MRI only doing more x rays.Thanks

My son had a broken bone in his wrist, wouldn't heal....had surgery and now a splint for 4 weeks......he's doing great. Also had a bone graft from hip to replace bone loss...........get another opinion from hand specialist....
