i went to big surf on monday..i didnt wear sunscreen for like 7 hours....(i kno i kno bad idea) i woke up tuesday with a bad sunburn and my face was really swollen....does anybody kno how to bring the swelling down faster?

For severe burns(yes a sunburn is just as bad as any other type of burn)of the face, it is recomended to seek medical attention,mostly due to the natural swelling that will come from a second degree burn,which i am assuming you have because of the swelling?This edema can compromise the airway and affect breathing.cold would be the best way to bring down swelling but in the case of burns,it usually does not work real well.i would see your doc as soon as possible.Do you have burns in other areas?These should be looked at as well.good luck,and i hope this heals quickly for youFB

Don't wait any more for the burns and the swelling to go away on its own. It will get worse!
I went to the beach about three years ago for about 7-8 hours (like you), no sunscreen. I got burned hardcore... I'm talking second degree burns all over my body, mainly my legs.
My entire body peeled. I lost like at least two layers of skin over my entire body.
It was the worst experience of my life. And the bad part is that I waited almost two weeks in bed hoping it would go away on its own. It didn't.
The pain got worse. The second week I couldn't walk, or sit up, or do anything really.

So I went to a doctor. She warned me about cancer and told me to get a specific unscented lotion (Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula), etc etc.
Then she subscribed pain killers and some other skin renewal pills or whatever.
Two days later I felt sooo much better. It started healing right away.
So you should go to to doctor asap. Trust me, it will get worse. You don't wanna suffer like that. It's the worst pain I have ever experienced.

I think that unscented creams are very good for sunburn but even better than that is any type of aloe vera, gel, cream, oil, liquid......honestly its brilliant. it automatically in about 10 minutes takes away that horrible crusty fealing and reduses sting in about an hour.....keep reaplying every 30 minutes for about a day or so and it will be golden brown...but the sting will go in about an hour and as long as it is being reaplied it will stay gone.

Use aloe vera if it happens again....straight away ..... but hopefully you learnt and it will never happen again.....use aloe vera
