Worried about water burn - Burns & Injuries Message Board

A week ago I spilled a mug of boiling water on my stomach. On some parts there were blisters and I stupidly popped them and now there is exposed skin. At the moment I keep the wound covered but the areas where the blisters were are moist and sticky.

Is it best to keep the area covered and should I use an ointment or should I leave it uncovered and let it dry out ?

Keep it covered. I would see a doctor who will prescribe an antibiotic ointment to put on the skin and then cover it with gauze. If you cant/wont see a doc just be sure to keep it covered, and change the gauze 2x a day. Then once it has heeled put nivea on it 2 times a day to prevent scarring. But please see a doctor, if it becomes infected you will have a lot of scarring.
