Knuckle injury

Hi everyone!

I punched a door about a year and 2 months ago. My pinky knuckle was in severe pain, so I got it xrayed and they reported no injuries. Well, recently I figured I was over the injury, so I decided it would be okay to give another door a soft punch My pinky knuckle absolutely throbbed in pain after the VERY soft punch. Even before testing the knuckle, my pinky had never regained full motion, (because i cannot pull the pinky back as far as I used to be able to) nor had the puffyness gone down. I was just wondering, what could be wrong with my pinky knuckle? Before the injury I was heavily into working out with a punching bag and have not been able to go back to it since -- I hope to go back someday.
Thanks for looking!

Re: Knuckle injury

First of all, if someone picked up a door and hit you in the hand with it, that person would be liable for assault. So don't do that.

Second, I had an accident with my index finger knuckle about a year ago, and it still hurts sometimes. Although I didn't have anything that the hand specialist could "fix," my insurance covered an MRI that showed an area of swelling.
Joints are very delicately engineered and can easily be damaged.
If a precision instrument is dropped on the ground, it might not break, but it might be thrown permanently out of alignment.

So, next time scream into a pillow.
And remember, if it hurts, stop.
