Pain in knee after a fall

Hi, can anyone help me? I tripped over at work 5 weeks ago and landed heavily (on office carpet) on my left knee and right hand. My knee came up in a bruise that was smaller than I would have expected for the impact and then the bruise healed up. Since the fall however, I have been unable to kneel on my knee - if I do so by accident it is agony and it also hurts if I accidentally bump it against something. It is not my kneecap itself that hurts but rather the hard lump which is about 2 inches below my kneecap. Should I go and see a doctor about this or will it heal itself in time?

hi bella
an similar thing happened to me 3 years ago, i fell and landed heavily. at the time they thought i had broken my leg but x rays were neg.
i wasn't able to kneel for about 8 weeks, without a feeling that something was coming out of the side of my leg and a horrible burning pain down the front of my leg. slowly it got better and eventually was able to kneel again.
then 6 weeks ago i knelt down to pick something up and felt the pain again, since then i again i now unable to kneel and am off work. x ray again neg but have a mir scan in 2 weeks, as the consultant is again not sure what it is.
regards sal mollie
