Red face bad sunburn

friday, i sat with my dogs in a kiddie pool for about 30 minutes. now, on sunday i am burned very badly on my thighs, stomach and chest. only my stomach and legs hurt, and they have small purple lines showing through the burn. a friend said that this is nerve damage. nothing really helps, though i keep thouraly(sp) saturated in aloe. i cannot bear to move the skin, to touch the burn, and even putting aloe on is worse than anything. the burn on my cest is the same, but it does not hurt. i would feel stupid going to the doctor for a sunburn with no blisters, especially on memorial day weekend, where the wait will inevitably be long, but is this bad enough to go? i am scared of getting permanent nerve damage.

Re: bad sunburn

i have small purple and red lines right below my skin. that's what the friend said was nerve damage. i am taking regular ibuprofin for pain, and the sunburn is getting slowly better, but i have also never heard of nerve damage, and wondered if i needed to go to a doctor.

Re: bad sunburn

I feel for you, I'm a red-head whith very sensitive skin and I burn horribly with 50+ on. I've never heard of getting nerve damage by sitting in the sun for half-an-hour. Try to wear loose clothes and a cold bath every-so-often, but look on the bright side: you don't itch like me!

Wink Re: bad sunburn

Have you tried putting pure coconut oil on your skin it meant to be good for sun burn.

Re: bad sunburn

i'd never heard of nerve damage either, so that's why i was asking if anyone else knew anything about it. the pain is alot better, i can wear a shirt again. the skin still has the purple lines under the skin and a few blisters, but i'm not really worried about it anymore. thank you all!!
