| surgical wound non-healing
I have a 12 x 4 cm incision in the proximal right thigh just as it joins the torso
which was a femoral artery pseudoaneurysm repair following cardiac catheterization. The wound was conventionally closed for 8 days following surgery, and developed an infection. The surgeon reopened the wound and discharged me from the hospital.
At home, I have a device called Wound V.A.C. which is a sponge with a vacuum pump which applies negative pressure to the wound and removes fluids. This has been in operation for 6 days now.
I am disturbed by what I read on the internet, that there is no clear evidence that the "wound V.A.C" methods are of any benefit in wound healing.
Does anyone have knowledge to share on this?
