Mallet finger, is it healed yet?
Sup guys, new to this message board.
A while back I jammed my left ring finger really bad. The tip seemed out of place, drooping down. I thought it was dislocated so I tried to pop it back in for a while and nothing. The oddest thing was that there was no pain at all, I even considered to keep playing on it. But I rested it for that night and saw a doctor the next day. He diagnosed it as mallet finger, where the tendon just ripped off of the bone, no fracture. He gave me the usual mallet finger splint and I was on it for 10 days, not really taking good care of my finger. After re-evaluation, I was told to keep the splint on for 6 weeks, can't even take it off to clean it! But it did the trick, and I had almost 100% of movement back in the finger.
Recently, I re-injured the same finger. I'm a college student, so I didn't want to dish out more medical expenses, so I skipped the doctor visit. I immediately put on the splint. It's been almost 2 weeks and I'm growing impatient. I took a peak to see how I was healing and I've regained motion, but not complete. How will I know it's time to get off the splint?
