Skin redness after trauma to leg

I bumped my leg hard against a sharp piece of furniture. The point of impact was just below the knee. There is a cut there with swelling right above it. My lower leg has yellow bruising.

A week has gone by.

About six inches below the cut the skin is becoming red. It looks like a rash but not sure. It could be bruising. It is becoming more red.

I did go to the doctor yesterday. He did not know what the redness was. There is no swelling, pain. I do not know if I can rule out cellulitis.

Is it normal for a bruise to start to turn red a week after an injury? I thought red/purple was the first color of bruising.
