Thought it was a bladder infection, but neg. urine test

Anyone know what else would cause symptoms that feel just like a bladder infection? Frequent urination, but very little comes out. Burning during urination, lower abdominal tenderness. Urine test done in doctors office came back negative for bacteria/infection. Not surprised because the antibiotic is not helping after several days. Called this morning, still waiting to hear from doctor. What else could it be?
Thanks

Hmmm Honestly I don't know. I did want to pop in and tell ya though.....I ended up in the ER about a year ago thinking my appendix was giving me problems...anyway they did a urine dip for infection and it came back negative and after a bunch of tests they sent me home. (even though they flat out said I had an infection SOMEWHERE *white blood count was sky high*)....

Anyway I went in to the ER on a sunday night...I went to MY doc for a 'hey I went to the er check me out' visit on tuesday (Slept through monday since I didn't get home from the er til 5am) and they said they could do nothing for me til they got the test results and such.

they got them wenesday night so they didn't even call me......Thursday they called me in asking for another urine sample....later that night they called to let me know I had a severe uti....

Soooooooo It's possible they just didn't diagnose it....so I'd go back for another test...

Sounds like a bladder infection to me.. I have suffered from them many a time and often I have had to have 2-3 samples taken before they diagosed it... I also have a 4 year old who had one 2 years ago and they told me it was tummy bug and to go home so I took her straight to A&E and demanded a urine test and it can back negative so the next day I took another sample to my Doctor and he tested it and it came back positive. I find having a warm bath very good and putting a hot water bottle on my tummy or between my legs. Good Luck I know how painful they are... also drink heaps of water and herbal teas, no coffee or alcohol...

I agree, it sounds like a UTI. If you've had antibiotics then it could be that you had the wrong ones.
Drink lots of water, also if you want to add some bicarbonate of soda to the water, this also helps.

I would demand a urine culture. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to her and they sent off a culture because she was no better. She had a major uti that a basic urinalysis didn't pick up.Along with the culture they should also run a sensitivity to detect the best antibiotic for your infection.
