Bladder stopped working...help!
About 3 months ago my father's bladder just suddenly became weak and stopped working over a couple of days. He is 70, a practicing doctor, and in excellent health with no medication before this problem. He immediately went to a urologist who did a test and gave him medication to try to get his bladder going again. He also gave him a cathader to use every 3-4 hours. He said his prostate looked slightly enlarged but basically normal, but the bladder wasn't responsive, and no cancer anywhere. He just went back for a second opinion to another urologist this week who reran the same test and still got the same results (after being on the medicaton 3 mmonths). He said the medication obviously wasn't doing any good and that he will have to do the cathader ever 3-4 hours for the rest of his life! My dad is shocked and very upset. Even though he has been a doctor himself for 40 years, he has never heard of this problem occuring so suddenly. Does anyone have ANY EXPERIENCE WITH A NON-FUNCTIONING BLADDER and alternative treatments, surgeries, medications or expert doctors in the country???? Any help would be appreciated.
