Last August I found out that I need a "bladder lift", but can't take the time because of my ailing Mom and my poor, sick father just passed away a week ago.
My Gyne said that he will also perform a vaginal hysterectomy at the same time that the urologist lifts my bladder.
My question is -- "Why do I need a hysterectomy at the same time? I am in menopause-- I am 50 and haven't had a period since Sept. 1. Should I get a second opinion at a gynecologist? I'm just trying to quicken my recovery time since my Mother needs me now more than ever!
Thanks!
Absolutely get a second opinion. Seems like you just need to see a urologist? Gynecologists are quick to remove everything which would only make your bladder problem worse. Good luck to you!
Well, the Dr. could charge you more for removing your uterus. If your doing fine and have no problems, its better for you to keep your uterus. Do you feel comfortable enough to tell your Doc you JUST want a bladder lift?

I guess so....... I would only need the Urologist then. My Gynecologist said that they work together, but he never did say why he would do a hysterectomy at the same time. I am in menopause, haven't had a period since Sept. 1 and never had any problems. I'm hoping if I just have the bladder lift then the recovery time should be shortened, I imagine.
