No, you do not have to have a hysterectomy to have a prolapsed bladder fixed. However, if you have other prolapsed organs, like a prolapsed uterus and/or cervix, it would make sense to have the hysterectomy also.

If you do not have anything like that wrong, it may be difficult to get a gynecologist to help fix the repair, your best bet is to find a urologist that does bladder repairs. And yes, they do that!

If only a GYN is available to do such a surgery, they are unlikely to help unless it would fix a problem such an incontinence (leaking urine on yourself).

A hysterectomy is probably being done if the uterus is resting on your bladder. I have to have one b/c my uterus is prolapsing, twice the normal size and I have fibroids. I am scared and excited all at the same time.

A uro-gynecologist would be the best type of doc for your situation.
