Need help for bladder control post-op

Hi everyone. I had my surgery for endometrial cancer one week ago today, they had to do a vaginal and an abdominal hysterectomy. I had an epidural for 3 days post-op for pain control and after they took epidural and urinary catheter out - I had no bladder control. The surgeon said " it may come back" !!!! Has anyone else had this problem - how long should I wait before asking for Urology Consult. Thanks.

Hi...hope you received a good prognosis. I wouldn't wait. First question asked by my surgeon each morning after op...urine output and bowels? Wouldn't have been allowed home until both normal.

Thanks Cejayb

Thanks Cejayb - I was so fed up when I was discharged - I just told surgeon that I had a "tip" for him - Buy" Depends "stock as sales are going to go way up due to my urinary problem!!! However, I notice some improvement yesterday and today - trying the old potty training method - toilet every hour and it seems to be helping. Thanks for your comments.

Re: Thanks Cejayb

First thing I looked at this am. Good news! Think it's mandatory that most medical people treat us as nusiance value with not a brain in our heads. Had BIL in hosp and it took a bit of basic rudeness [I reckoned] to get any info. Anyway...happy urinating!!!
