| Had first BCG yesterday
HI Have not posted in several months. I had second TURB in June. Now still non invasive but high grade. My Dr at U of Mi recommened BCGs or Mitomycin
as BCGs were in short supply. Had back suregery a week later so had to put this off. With agreement of my U of M Dr, I saw my local uro in northern Mi to handle BCGs etc --no way I could drive 500 mile round trip 6 weeks in a row.
Local URO did cysto and it was clear! Recommended Mitomycin as no BCGs
were available.
GEt THIS! Went to infusion center yesterday. Before she started, I asked the nurse if the BCG shortage was ever going to change? She said "we have BCGs-no problem." WOW I asked her to call/page my Uro and tell him. Ask what I should have. Did not take long for them to find him and he said give me the BCGs!!!! Another example that you have to advocate for yourself!!!
Anyway, had the BCGs and had zero problems. This is next morning and I feel fine. After reading some of the posts on BCGs I was prepared to deal with holding it and feeling ill.
Do not understand why some have trouble holding it. She only put in about 50ml. I had no urge to urinate. I did urinate at infusion center but I did not pee again until I had been home for several hours. Did drink water. I thought they were going to fill my bladder with about 1200ml. I had read before that if you do not get sick it is not working. Kind of wish I was sick!!!!
I am 70 year old guy and do have enlarged prostate. Take Vesicare and Alfusozin (like FloMax). I am dealing with failed back surgery so have a lot on my plate. At least I now know that I can handle the BCGs and back at same time. Appreciate any comments. Posting because I want to get active on this
board again. It really helped me when I was first diagnosed 2 years ago.
