Atypical clusters of urothelial cells
I've had microscopic blood in urine tests for over a year (dip stick and the ones they send away to the lab). Had an ultrasound of kidneys and bladder that came back normal. Finally, my doctor sent me to a urologist. The urologist had me give a urine sample. She said if there was any infection she would call and get me on an antibiotic. She also said she will schedule me for a ct scan with dye, and schedule me for a cystoscopy. No tests have been scheduled as of today. I got the results of the cytology report in the mail that say "Atypical clusters of urothelial cells present". I haven't gotten any calls about any infection, so I'm kinda wondering if the result is something to freak out about? I'm worried because my dad had bladder cancer and later died of kidney failure. When I Google 'Atypical clusters of urothelial cells' all it does is talk about cancer. Can those cells be present for a reason other than cancer?
