I am a 62 year old male. Recently I have been experiencing pain in my right shin down to the top of my foot. There is no swelling, no redness, and it feels like a kind of bony pain. Worst of all, when I wake up around 4am or so every morning it is worse than ever, and I have to get up and walk around as sleep is impossible. I take ibuprofen and paracetamol but they aren'tmuch help. It is better during the day, though not by much. I am very scared of course as I have read that this kind of localised pain at night or at rest can indicate a tumor, primary or secondary, and however hard I search for other possible causes (aside from cramps, or restless leg syndrome, which my symptoms don't match!), I can find no alternative. I have been to the doctor, who has booked me for an Xray in a couple of days. Would be most grateful for any kind of reassurance.
