my husband has been told that the hole bowel will have to be removed, the doctor described him as ticking time bomb all polys removed if left would turn to cancer again. they will retach the small bowel which means no bag. can someone tell us what to expect. the good and the bad.
The bad is that he will have almost constant loose stool. Aside from the obvious discomfort and urgency this will cause he will also have to make sure he is getting more water and electrolytes as the colon usually reabsorbs these.
If he does not eat after dinner then he might avoid having to get up as much during the night to 'go'. A few marshmellows are supposed to help stiffen up loose stool.
