Re: bowel cancer?

I don't know how long tumours take to grow, but I think most of them develop over quite some time. Four years of visiting the hospital without being diagnosed does sound rather extreme though. I have fairly advanced Stage C3 bowel cancer and have been told that it had been growing without any real symptoms for a long time. They never actually tell you how long "a long time" is though!!
I hope you are now getting the care and treatment it sounds as if you should have got years ago.

Re: bowel cancer?

hi, on the 17th august i had an operation to ,40% of my bowell +2.5ft of colon removed also 23 nodes or polyps found 4 found to be type c all of the above were removed and i now will be having chemo for 6 months i have gone to the hospital for practically 4 years they could find none of the above until about 8 weeks ago so i have spoken to my surgeon who had said to me when i asked him several questions, the specialist who was dealing with me for the last 4 years had said this cancer had become very aggresive in the last 6 to 12 weeks and he had an independant doctor to look at my previous scans etc, because he did not no where this had come from, the surgeon shook his head and said to me its been there for some considerable time and to go back and speak with the person who i was under previously.
