It's getting confusing, isn't it? I believe CIS is only at the surface of the cervix and that the cone will tell you if it goes deeper. Either way, the biopsy can't tell you if it is invasive. The choice of the cone for this kind of biopsy result is so that you can tell for sure if the margins are clear or not. With the LEEP, you can only tell up to the margins and that leaves a small space where you can't tell for sure what is going on because the tissue is electrically burned. With the kinfe, things aren't burned.
I guess, it is possible that the cone could give you more bad news, but we can cross everything for you, too, until you know for sure.
