| Have no idea....need some input asap
My best friend had an mamagram a couple of weeks ago, and the doc had her go for an MRI right away. He followed that immediately with a biopsy Friday. This is my very best friend....she's scared, I'm scared for her. She didn't ask the doc enough questions, and really doesn't have a clue what might be happening.
She thinks the doc did a needle biopsy Friday, but there are two tape strips like there would be after a small incision. She said the MRI was done with a dye injection first. She's had large lumps under her arms for several years, but her family doc always said caffiene caused them. The lump where they did the biopsy is not under the arm, but is on the breast itself.
If I understand the MRI with dye injection (I just had one for spinal problems) that would show any abnormal pooling of blood like you might see where there is a malignant tumor or lump. But what do I know. What I do know is this is my very best friend, and I'm worried sick for her. She's in the "cancer happens to other people but not me" frame of mind. She'll get a call back from the doc Tuesday or Wednesday, and I'd like to be prepared to support her the best I can. If she were to have to face a mastectomy she would be absolutely devastated.
So, if anyone can, please help me be ready to help her....what are the odds that the results will come back "malignant"? Any input anyone can give me would be appreciated.
