For someone who already has the virus, the vaccine does not kill the virus but it does stop the actual pre-cancers and the actual cancer itself from forming. You'd still be infected, but you wouldn't be contagious and you wouldn't have ANY cancerous/precancerous changes. They are also advising that if you are married, that you're husband/wife receive the same vaccine so that they will not become contagious to you after you've already received your shot. I believe that this vaccination will be administered through booster shots given in a series of every 3 months (I'm not sure about how long).
