Important Question - Cancer: Breast Message Board

Hi everyone,

I've never posted here before, but I seeked out a Women's Health message board in order to ask a question for anyone who may be able to offer some kind of answer . . . so even though you don't know me . . . I'm begging for your help.

I've been bleeding vaginally for over a month now . . . nothing terribly heavy . . . but the length is concerning me. I'm afraid I may have some form of cancer . . . or systs . . . or somthing. I just don't know.

Should I be concerned? Or am I overreacting???

Dear Chic,
Of course you are not over-reacting. A "period" that never ends can have many causes and should be checked out by your doctor. Go to your gynecologist with a list of your symptoms and your questions in hand, and I'm sure you will be sent for some further testing, either to rule things in or out. Don't put this off any longer; even if it does turn out to be "nothing to worry about" you need that answer to put your mind at ease and get back to your life. Be sure to tell the receptionist or the nurse your basic symptoms when making your appointment.

Causes of the bleeding can vary with your age and whether or not you are on birth control pills, endometriosis, fibroids, cancer, etc., etc. Please don't put this off. I really hope it turns out to be "nothing to worry about", but be sure to let a doctor decide that.

My mom had that happen to her because of her "maturing" age (and eventually needed a hysterectomy). My much younger friend had that because of endometriosis (sp.). It could be anything. You should go to the doctor soon because its definitely not normal.

It's a month after I first posted on this site and I am STILL bleeding . . . and I already had been for quite some time before I first posted. So, it looks like I'll be headin' off to the doctor sometime soon.
