i finally had my colposcopy - Cancer: Breast Message Board

As I posted in my update a few days ago I went to my Dr. for my follow up pap smear (second in 3 months.) I told the Dr. what I had found out during the summer, Mild dysplasia, LSIL and high risk HVP+. Before she did the exam she told me it most likely hasn't changed, but for insurance purposes we would do another pap and schedule the colposcopy for a few weeks down the road.

At this point I am feeling ok, and confident. Well she finishes the exam, and tells me she has bad news and that it definately looks like cancer to her and immediately scheduled the colposcopy with the ob/gyn next door for the next day becuase she said it couldn't wait...

So Tuesday (yesterday) I went in for the colposcopy. (half out of my mind because of the two viccoden she had me take first)

It hurt as much as I thought it would as she took two seperate biopsies. When she was finished she said the results would be in next tuesday, but it looked precancerous to her, not actual cancer, yet.

Now, I am just confused and freaking out and all that stuff and am basically unsure. I don't really have any questions other then how in two days could two dr.'s tell me such different diagonsis...

Sometimes doctors just don't think before they speak. Of course you're upset, that would upset anyone! It looks like cancer, HELLO, why not just say we need to do some more tests because it looks pre-cancerous. Geez, don't tell someone they may have cancer unless you're damn sure of it!! Maybe your first doctor doesn't have as much experience as the second doctor, which is probably why she sent you to a second doctor for another opinion. Let us know how things turn out. And, try not to stress! I know, easier said than done. Good luck and keep us posted!

I just noticed you're in Colorado. So am I. I have the BEST OB/GYN!!! I've seen probably 15 OB/GYN's in my day, and this guy is by far the best! If you want another opinion, set an appointment with him.

thanks for the info on the dr. What have your experiences with him been? (if you don't mind my asking) I am debating another opinion (see my colpo results post) and if my insurance takes him I would be willing to try for an appt. especially with a recommendation from here! Thanks
