Biopsy Results

So, I got my biopsy results from the doc yesterday. The ECC came back negative, so that's good. The biopsy though came back as CINII (it was I about 6 months ago)-moderate dysplasia and the low-grade lesion is now a high-grade lesion.

A LEEP has been scheduled for March 24th and my doc does not allow people to be awake during the procedure because some people can not mentally handle it though the pain is minimal. That makes perfect sense to me, I don't need to see, feel, or hear what's going on. I'd rather take a nap and wake up and be done.

I feel like I'm being really calm about this but I can feel myself starting to get upset and nervous (it's only just now starting to sink in I guess).

If anyone has words of wisdom or support I'd love to talk to you.

Re: Biopsy Results

Hi there In 2003 I was diagnosed with CIN III and scheduled for LEEP in Dec 2003. I was awake during the procedure and it was fine. I experienced no problems after the LEEP - just some pinkish discharge but nothing too bad. I understand how nervous you are about this but please don't be. I am such a worrier and felt a bit silly for worrying so much about the procedure as it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You are going to be asleep which is even better. You will drift off and when you wake up you'll be all done and it's over with. I had my first follow-pap 6 months after the LEEP and it was all clear. I then had another follow-up 6 months after that and it recently came back all clear as well. I am sure you will experience the same. When I was going throught the whole "waiting for LEEP" period, I was really upset and worried so I completely understand how you are feeling. Trust me, everything will be fine - you will get through this. I will be thinking of you March 24th. In the meantime, take it easy and pamper yourself! God bless

Re: Biopsy Results

Hi!

I also went under general anaesthetic for my LEEP and it was soooo much better than being awake for it! I've heard horror stories on these boards of people who haven't had enough local anaesthetic and can feel the doctor burning off part of their cervix... I've heard people who've had to have MULTIPLE local anaesthetic injections to their cervix 'cos it wore off (whereas I only had one the ONE needle in my hand! Easy as pie!) and people who have SMELT their own flesh BURNING!

Seriously, when I had my LEEP done, I didn't notice ANYTHING... the doc was talking to me, put a needle in my hand, told me the anaesthetic was going in... then the next thing I knew I was waking up and they were wheeling me to the recovery room! I didn't even remember starting to feel sleepy or anything!!

And afterwards, I didn't feel a thing either!! No pain or cramping anywhere or anytime!!!!!! And I even had some external warts burnt off, so that really should have hurt afterwards, but I seriously never felt anything! Easy as pie! I had CIN II also and I'm scheduled for my follow-up pap in May

Good luck, and please don't be scared! I was so scared and cried in the gyno's office when she told me I would need a LEEP (which is also in the branch of procedures called RADICAL SURGERY! EEP!!!) But yes, now I realize it was TOTALLY nothing... in fact, a dermatological fungal infection near my thumbnail is irritating me and annoying me MUCH more than the LEEP ever did!!!!!!!

Re: Biopsy Results

Just remember any surgery no matter how minor and simple will cause stress. Even if you aren't worried subconsciuosly the mind does amazing things like stress over simple things. Heck a week before mine my heart condition went haywire and I had to go to the ER. Stress can do amazing things when you aren't looking. You will be fine. I went under for mine, I was only at the surgery center for 2 1/2 hrs. That includes waiting to check in everything. Went home had no pain. Try not to stress but remeber itmis normal if you do.

Re: Biopsy Results

HI ya honey,
I had my LEEP on 14 feb, I was terrified for ages, but when i had it done ( i was awake) I realised the stress was the worrying, not the procedure you are allowed to worry, just dont let it be the only focus you have.
