| 6x3cm mass
i had a virtual colonoscopy due to rectal bleeding, severe indigestion , gas and a recent change in my bowels. my mother is a colon cancer survivor. unfortunately, i have had this prolonged cough for a couple of months which is worse when i lie down and because of that, the results were complicated by movement artifacts and they want me to do it again on thursday. they did send me a copy of the initial scope though, and it says that i have a 6x3cm adnexal mass and should follow up on it with my primary dr.
i have gone to several boards looking up ovarian cancer and understand that the chances are great that this will prove to be nothing more than a mass. however in addition to the already stated health complaints, i also have had severe back and leg pain for quite a while now. i also have bloating, shortness of breath.
i am a mom of four kids, 17, 15, 12 and 4..two of them on the autism spectrum. they keep me running all the time. here is was concerned about colon cancer and now i find that this is a possibility as well. ugh. i do not have time to be sick.
my husband is retired military and we get our health care through the military. our primary physician has told me in the past that if it anything more complicated than a cold, he is not qualified to help us. i have seen that as well. fortunately we have not needed much from him. he is pcsing right now and is hard to get hold of. i have called him three times in the past week and he has yet to return a call. the dr who did the scan has mailed the result to him.
if i do manage to get hold of him, what questions should i ask and what should i expect? if surgery is an option, should i just have him take the ovaries? i had a hysterectomy about 8 or 9 years ago and more children are not an option. our last child was adopted. i am 43 years old.
any info you can share with me will be much appreciated. thank you.
