posting again...some questions please/lumpy breasts - Cancer: Breast Message Board

Is there a difference between normal lumps that are "glands" and lumps that are signs of Cancer?
I do self exams all the time, and my breasts, especially my left one, is full of small lumps everywhere, especially under the nipple and around it. It is more prominent if I squeeze my breast with my thumb on top and fingers on the bottom.
I feel small lumps on my other breast as well, so how am I supposed to know what are "good" lumps and "bad" lumps?
Or do some women normally have lumpy breasts? Or are lumpy breasts not normal either?
I don't get it as to how I am supposed to know? I mean if a Dr did a breast exam and felt all these lumps and was concerned which one would they choose to biopsy if there are so many?
I have no insurance at all whatsover, and am only 38. Baseline *****'s are age 40.

Hi PaulCindy,

I have lumpy breasts also. One of my doctors called it fibrocystic breasts. They must know the difference between abnormal breast lumps and our regulard lumps! Just make sure that you have your 40th year mammogram.

If you are really concerned or scared about it, go and get gynocologist appointment. The doctor will be able to tell what is what.

Take care and try not to worry so much. I know it is hard.

the key is to know what lumps are normal for you and then check for changes. Check month to month and see .. are the lumps sore? Are they changing in size? Are new ones forming?
I have the "fibrous" breasts as well.. which are more difficult to deal with. I just learn to know what lumps have always been there.
