Im scared..anyone got any ideas..? - Cancer: Breast Message Board

Hi I've never posted on this board but was wondering if anyone had any ideas... I was taking a bath one day, probably about 3 months ago and notice that my left breast look larger then my right. After getting out of the tub I asked my boyfriend what he thought and he told me they looked the same too him to stop acting crazy. I kinda just forgot about it until last night, my sister and I was getting dressed to go out for a few drinks and she noticed right away when i was changing my shirt. I never mentioned it too her she just saw right away. SO.....NOW IM FREAKING OUT....They were never different sizes when I was younger or anything so this is something kinda new. I dont ever give my self breast exams, I'm not really sure how. I did though feel around on them to sheck for lumps. I see a doctor every year for check up's so my last breast exam was probably about 9 months ago. Im making an appt. as soon as my doctors office open....IT JUST SEEMS SO FAR AWAY!!!!!! I have never had anyone in my family with breast cancer so I'm hoping for the best. Anyone know the signs of it or have any ideas....???????????

it could be anything... maybe something just caused it to swell a bit and it won't even stay that way, or it was just so slight you never really noticed it!
As for self exams.. search for 'breast self exam instructions' and it will bring up a few sites with good instructions on how to do it. I would keep an eye on it and if it still bothers you then maybe call and get an earlier appointment, even if it's just to ease your mind.

Hey thanks so much for the respond. I went ahead and made an appt. for the 4th of Jan, just to be on the safe side.

Anytime you notice breast changes, it's good to get it checked out. If nothing else, for your peace of mind. Be sure to ask your doctor to check for inflammatory breast cancer. I don't want to scare you, because it's probably nothing but one breast suddenly enlarging is one of the symptoms. DON'T go looking it up and scaring yourself silly thinking you have it, though
