Dont know what Im doing - Cancer: Breast Message Board

Hello every one,

Im a 30yr old Mother of 2 about to go through a divorce. Just the other day I was doing a self breast exam, and I found a lump. I have a Dr's appointment on the 18th, should I be seen before then or is this ok to wait untill that appointment. No one in my family has ever had breast cancer that I know of, altho my Aunt passed away 2 years ago from bone cancer and my grandmother also had uterine cancer. Im a little nervous (lol thats a bit of an understatement) and dont really know what to do. Any kind of info would be helpful Thank You

You should be OK waiting until the 18th to see a doctor. But, if it would make you feel better, don't wait. A lot of times cysts form before your period and if you wait until your period is done, they go away on their own. A lump is definitely nothing to mess around with but waiting through your cycle is probably OK or in your case waiting 5 more days should be fine. I know it's scary finding a lump but try not to worry. Most of the time they are nothing. Keep us updated.
